MIA

I have been missing, this is true! :) But in good news.. I am back!

The husband and I picked up and went here for the weekend:

(Island Park!)

We slept in, went for a snowmobile ride, and went out to a yummy dinner :) Reese even built me a fire! ( kinda sexy..not gonna lie!) We cuddled up, drank hot coco and watched a movie! (Lord of the Rings- husbands choice- my first time watching it...and I will admit- it wasn't bad at all! I actually enjoyed it! haha)

It was a much needed little getaway!

Now I am buckling down and finishing my weekend homework, and studying for a midterm I have tomorrow. Oh the life of a college student! :)

But I will have good news for you all tomorrow...so look forward to that! (no, I am not pregnant!) haha

XOXO

Shayna

Guest Blogger- Miss Heather

Hey! I’m Heather from The Life Unexpected. I started blogging as a way to keep in touch with my family and friends, but then found out it was a great way to vent and make new friends and connections. My blog is filled with the daily ramblings about the crazy things that happen to me and the hubs in life as I finish school and we take on the world together. I hope you stop by and stay a while!

I’m super excited that Shayna had me stop in today, because I’ve had a few things on my mind lately. The hubs and I just made a fast move to a new town and basically completely shook our lives up. I can’t even begin to tell you how crazy it’s been! I digress, what I’m trying to get at is it’s been a stressful time and has become entirely too easy to forget that hubs and I are on the same team in the fight we all call life. With added stress, I tend to forget to appreciate the things that he does for me, so when Shayna asked me to write something up, and with it being so close to Valentine’s Day, I figured that appreciation would be a great place to start. Here are some tips that I have to remind myself of daily when life gets crazy:

  1. Remember to say thanks even for the little things. I try really hard to say thank you almost TOO much. I think this really helps to let your significant other you notice all that they do for you, even if it was something small like putting clothes in the hamper.
  2. When you can, make sure you go the extra mile. Stuff like rinsing the dishes AND putting them in the dishwasher make a big difference in the stress level of the day, and takes a bit of the work load off for anyone else in the house.
  3. Set aside time for just the two of you. Even if you literally only have time for a 5 minute walk, take it. Life is never more important than a little bonding with the person you married! Remember that there’s tons of stuff to do that is free, so money should never be an excuse not to go.

With our recent move, we’re a little tight on cash so Valentine’s Day was threatening to be a non-event until I thought of a few things we could do together for little to no money!

First on our proposed agenda will be learning something new together. This may or may not happen ON V-day, but it’ll be a part of the week for sure. There are a TON of places that offer free dance lessons around Valentines, and our first date ever was square dancing, so I’m thinking we’ll go to one of the local country bars and learn from some of the pros.

After dancing, I want to make dinner at home…TOGETHER! There’s nothing more fun than creating something delicious together, and it could even lead to an innocent food fight, who doesn’t like acting like a kid? Just remember to split the clean up fairly lol

After dinner, we can digest while snuggled up for a movie, I’m feeling one of the classics like A Walk to Remember or PS I Love You…Let them groan, we all know that they’ll love it on the inside.

A full body massage is just what you need before bed, so find some yummy smelling lotion, and help each other relax! What you choose to do behind closed doors after that, is totally up to you ;)

I hope this helped you guys get in the lovey dovey Valentine’s mood; heaven knows that we all get too busy and forget about the little things sometimes. Let’s all slow down and make the best of the big mushy day! Oh and don’t forget to hit the stores Feb. 15th, candy is half off! That’s really the best time of this month (just kidding…kinda)! Thanks again Shayna, I LOVED stopping by!

His and Hers

This Thursday's blog is going to be a little different than normal..don't get angry! Embrace the change ;)
My sister told me today that she gets excited when she gets on the world wide of web and sees that I have a new blog post so she has somet
hing to do when she is up with a fussy baby at 2 am! So here is a shout out to my favorite sister and my cute little baby Kate! This blog is dedicated to you ladies!

I tricked Reese into answering some questions- and when I told them they were going on the internet....he was a little surprised! But I think he likes the attention in the spotlight! I composed a list of random questions and answered them myself and then asked them to Reese! It was crazy how many of our answers matched!

My answers:

(Old picture..but the message still holds true!)

What is your favorite date night activity? Anything spontaneous J But I love the old reliable…dinner and a movie at the cheap theater! : )

What is the first thing you do when you know you are in trouble with the husband? Buy him a treat, and make a cute face at him! It works every time!

Favorite kiss of all time: Island park (our second kiss!) He “fell” on the ice and happened to land on my lips!

Favorite Date of all time: Picking up and headin

g to Jackson Hole at one in the morning for the weekend (We were married of course!!) Also, we had a Ash Wednesday date that was pretty crazy!

What would be his ideal Valentines Day gift? A box of yummy chocolates! (that is what he told me he wanted after I already bought his rockin gift!) But he better like his gift! Haha

I love it when he… Runs my bath for me, with bubble bath of course!

What is his ideal date night? Going to the cabin! Or a roadtrip!

What is your favorite thing he wears on date night? I love his sexy cowboy boots! And a nice button down! But no wrangler butt for me.. I love his buckle jeans! ;)

I love it when he smells like… he did on our honeymoon! We bought cologne and perfume on our honeymoon and whenever he wears it… I get carried back to the Bahamas! LOVE IT!

I married him because… He knows me better than anyone! He knows what makes me happy, and what makes me sad! Plus… He is the funniest! He is my best friend!

His Answers:

She loves it when I … do the dishes!

What is her ideal date night? Do something spontaneous!

What is your favorite thing she wears on date night? Her brown boots and a sexy top! (with stipes…!)

Guest Blogger- Miss Cheltzey

Hey there! My name’s Cheltzey, and I’m blogging from “The Newman Newsie”

I am excited to be a guest blogger on “The Love Shack” and hope you find my post interesting and helpful! Thanks for stopping by!

Shayna asked me to write about a good date idea, but I didn’t know how difficult it would be to choose what I would focus this blog on.

How could I ever pick just one date night out of all the wonderful things that Andrew (my hunk of a man) and I have spent our time doing? I just have to say, my husband is an AWESOME guy who has TONS of sweet ideas. We’ve done every thing from jam sessions at home while Andrew plays his guitar and I sing, to traveling together to see the wonders of this beautiful world. We have gone down to the local “Nature Park” and fed a whole loaf of bread to the funny ducks, and have snuck into empty classrooms on campus to play the pianos because we aren’t lucky enough to have one in our home. I could go on for hours about how much fun I have with him, but what sticks out the most in my head is no matter what we are doing, the most important thing to me is making memories with this wonderful man.

That doesn’t mean, though, that some dates don’t catch my memory better than others! No matter how cool some of our dates have been, my mind keeps going back to something that Andrew and I LOVE to do together.

“What might that be?” Well, I’m glad you asked!

Our favorite date is STARGAZING!

So I know you might be thinking it sounds a little cheesy, but there’s one thing that sets our date apart and that is this wonderful app that we found for Andrew’s phone. It’s called Google Sky Map and it tells you the name of every star you can see in the sky! We love taking a short drive up into the dry farms behind Rexburg or Idaho Falls and cuddling up to just look at the stars. (Hot chocolate is definitely a must for this date!)

The best thing about doing this is the lack of distractions. There is no T.V. or other couples or people getting into your business. It is one of the best things to do when you just want some time away from the world. Some time where you can just be together or sit and talk about the dreams you share and where you are headed together.

What if you don’t have a smart phone? Well, that’s all right. You don’t have to know exactly what you are looking at to see the beauty in it. All you really need to make this date special is some fuel to get away from the town and some blankets and pillows to keep you warm and comfortable. Maybe a late night picnic would be fun too? Mix it up and make it YOUR date! Have some fun and get to know your partner a little better! After all, it’s YOU who best knows what the two of you will most enjoy on a date like this!

Kickoff

This past week has been CRAZY! We babysit Reese's siblings all last week, got our pictures taken on Saturday, then Reese came down with a bad cold, and decided to share it with me :/ So I am half alive today, or half dead... I haven't quite decided! :)

But there is something that I have been working on that I am VERY excited about! :) Look for a post about it in the near future! (yep, I am going to keep you guessing! :)

To show you what kind of week I am having, I will share with you a little story, that doesn't leave this blog ;) Yesterday I was fully dressed, shoes and all. Ready to head out the door when I realized I never put on my perfume, so I headed to the bathroom and spritzed myself with a little JB perfume. I did a quick once over in the mirror and realized something was a bit off. I stared at myself for 30 seconds trying to figure out what it was. Any guesses? I forgot my BRA! How embarrassing that could have been! I would have had to call Reese, "uh honey, could you bring a bra to me at school" bahaha

To look at our cute pics head over to Heather Sellers Photography , and while you are there check out her Deserving Families Contest :)

In one week, it will be Valentine's Day, and call me a sap but I LOVE this "Hallmark" holiday! I have had Reese's present bought for weeks, and cannot wait to give it to him! This week on my blog I will be doing a fun little Valentines series, full of cute date night activities, cute little lovey dovey gift ideas, and much more! There will be a few guest bloggers, so keep your eye out for those :)

Here is the kickoff: A fun date night in idea :)

An indoor campout!

Things you need: a tent, sleeping bags, stuff for smores and a good movie to watch!

Set up your tent in the biggest open space in your house, I hope you have a little tent, or a REALLY big space! Make yourselves comfy and cook some smores in the oven (on broil) and cuddle up and watch a good movie (Maybe on a laptop, or face the tent door towards the TV?)

Super fun, super easy, and super cheap :)
Enjoy your campout indoors

See you tomorrow for more fun ideas!

It's Thursday Baby!

I was going to get a bit lazy today and not post, but my lovely friend wrote me on Facebook telling me she was looking forward to my Thursday blog post! So Cheltzey- this one is dedicated to YOU!

You may notice that my blog is changed up a bit, and there is a reason for that! I am guest judging a contest over at Heather Sellers Photography. She asked me what to put my blog name as, and I realized my blog name was The Hawkers. Lameo! So I gave it a cute little name! The Love Shack. How do you feel about it? I am digging it!

So on my favorite radio show that I listen to, the guys was talking about how ridiculous it is that women expect the men to put down the toilet seat after going potty. And it got me thinking. I never had to share a bathroom with a boy growing up, the boys used the downstairs bathroom and I used the upstairs one. I never really had to deal with the toilet seat issue. When I got married, I didn't really even think about this issue. (even though it tends to be a common fight between husbands and wives around the world)

So a couple weeks into my new marriage, I went to go potty in the wee hours of the night (no pun intended) I went to sat down, and splash! I sat straight in the toilet water. Yes, I could have been angry. But no, I couldn't stop laughing. I felt so ridiculous, I just fell in the toilet! I told my silly story to Reese, not to get angry with him, but to express to him how stupid I felt. I felt it was just as much my fault as his. I mean who is to say that it isn't the women's job to put the toilet seat up after using it? I found the whole situation funny! But after that day, I have never found the toilet seat up after Reese has used it, he always puts it down. This made my realize, sometimes you just need to find the humor in life, and things could work out to your benefit! Like no wet bums in the middle of the night! ;)

Since our topic seems to be toilets today(odd topic... I know!) I will give you a toilet tip today! My toilet tip is for cleaning it. My mother taught me this trick ( she is FULL of tricks!) And most of you might already know this, but if you take a pitcher full of water and dump it straight in the toilet (pour it all in at once) and when you do this is will flush the toilet leaving only an inch or so of water in the bottom, make the toilet nice and easy to clean! You can use your pumice stone without any worries of wet hands! :) It makes cleaning the toilet much easier, and you come out with a really clean toilet!

Happy Thursday to all of you :)

XOXO
