Thursdays Tricks and Thought

I just got back from the gym, where there were tons of stinky guys who were showing off one was standing behind me watching me on the treadmill. Creepy.

When I got back I realized 2 things. 1-it was Thursday. 2- I haven't blogged yet. So here it is, one hour to midnight and I am cramming a blog in :)

My trick of the week is marvelous. You may laugh at first, but once you try it, you will be hooked! I was in Claires one day, and at the check out stand were these weird hairbands that looked liked jelly lifesavers. I was intrigued. So I bought them. I used them for boating- marvelous. And now I use them for working out. They aren't to fashion savvy, so I wear them when I really need my hair to stay in a ponytail.

My friends, let me introduce you to my favorite hairbands:

The cool thing is- you just slip it around the pony and it stays! no wrapping a hair tie around and around. Let's be honest, these things rock. Claires is the only place I know to buy them!
Plus they are infused with aloe vera so they are good for your hair... blah...blah...blah ;) Now I am just rambling.

My thoughts:

I am taking a phonics class, (not to learn how to read but to learn how to teach kids how to read. just thought I would clear that one up ;)

And I honestly have no idea how I learned how to read. Our phonics are screwed up. We could really do away with some letters in the alphabet. Like q, and x. and c.

Think about it:

Kwit (Quit)

Kwiet (quiet)

Kwickly (quickly)

Boks (box)

ekstreme (extreme)

kall (call)

koinsidense ( coincidence)

What if we spelled words the way the sounded? How amazing would that be? But no... we have to go and make things difficult ;) I know I am way over analyzing this, but I cannot stop looking at the way words sound!

Before I end this blog, check this out. What sound does M make? Say it. Now say it with your nose plugged. Did you do it?? The sound comes out of your nose. Tricky eh? You probably just made a fool of yourself.

Is there a word in the English language that was hard for you to learn? Do you wish we would spell things the way they sound? Would it be easier for kids to learn to read? Would we have a higher literacy rate?

Happy Thursday!
